Passport, Visa, and travel information for
Nepal
All foreigners, except Indian
nationals, need a Nepal visa to enter Nepal. The Nepal visa can be obtained
from the Nepalese Embassy or Consulate in your city or country if you meet some
requirements. You can also get it on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Still, we recommend you to check first with the nearest consulate whether you
can get the Visa on arrival or not. Please read our Nepal immigration
regulations online to find out how many countries can obtain a visa on arrival
at each entry border. Generally, you will be issued a multiple entry visa if
you plan to visit a third country and return to Nepal. It can be helpful if you
are planning a trip through Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan.
A passport is a must to enter almost
any country globally; no one can enter a country without a valid passport. Your
passport must be valid for at least six months at the time of visa application.
If your passport is valid for less than six months and you have only a few
pages left, you should apply for a new passport before you go. Please note that
Visa, entry, or exit stamps may be more extensive and cover the entire page. If
you need to apply for a new passport, you should do so well in advance of your
travel plans. If your travel agent requires a copy of your permit or other
documents, you can send a copy of your passport, but let them know you will be
renewing your passport before you leave. And don't forget to bring a copy of
your old passport with your new one if your travel agent using your old passport
information for permits and visas.
Visa fee Valid until now (as of 2019,
subject to change)
30 dollars for 15 days,
50 for 30 days and
125 for 100 days
Make a copy of your passport
It is highly recommended to write down
the passport or bring a photocopy of it together with the original and keep it
separately. It would be even better to take a photo and save it on your hard
drive or smartphone. If you lose your passport, it is easier to report it to
the relevant authority with a copy.
Passport size photo
It is recommended to carry some copies
of passport size photos (at least 5-6 copies); two copies are needed for a Nepal
visa, and some for permits and TIMS. Therefore, it is advisable to carry some
copies of photos during the trip.
Information after arrival at Kathmandu
international airport
Before you land at Tribhuvan
International Airport, make sure you have given your flight details and get the
details (name and number) of the person who will pick you up at the airport. To
avoid problems, you can buy a local SIM card at the Nepal Telecom or Ncell
counter in the terminal so that you can call the person picking you up
directly. If you don't plan to buy a SIM card, don't worry, your representative
will come with a placard with your name on it.
Money and SIM card in Nepal
It is best to carry some cash in major
currencies such as US dollars, Euros, or British pounds. You can change your
money into Nepali currency at any local exchange office. However, most
restaurants and shopping centers accept credit cards (Master/Visa), or you can
withdraw money from nearby ATMs. However, it is advisable to take some cash
with you before you start your day.
As we have already explained, you can
buy a SIM card at the terminal upon arrival and withdraw some Nepalese currency
from the ATM located very close to the arrival terminal.
Transportation
For cultural and historical tours, we
use private vehicles like cars, jeeps, land cruisers, minibus, coaches, etc.,
depending on the size of the group. Generally, there is a speed limit of 50 m/h
in the mountainous region of Nepal due to the winding mountain roads.
Tour Guide
On all tours, you will be with a tour
guide and a driver. If the group travels by bus or the group size is large, the
transport assistant will also accompany you. The guide is the person who leads
the group and who you should contact in case of problems, doubts, suggestions,
etc. We use guides licensed by the tourist office and have good English skills
and information about the cultural and heritage sites. We guarantee that the
tour guides have good knowledge of history, adequate information about the
historical sites and other tourist places.
Travel insurance
You must purchase comprehensive travel
insurance before your trip. The insurance policy should cover personal
accidents, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, etc. And we recommend that
the insurance policy also covers cancellation, interruption, loss of luggage,
and personal belongings.
Health
Nepal does not have any particular
health requirements for entry into the country. However, it is recommended to
consult your doctor before starting your trip to Nepal. Please have up-to-date
information on vaccinations and medications for any logically foreseeable
illnesses during your trip to Nepal. Be informed that some medications or any antimalarial
may have side effects at altitude.
The best way to apply for a visa is at the diplomatic missions of Nepal in your country. The other way is to get it at the immigration office at the entry points to Nepal.
To fly directly from your country to Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is the only international airport in Nepal. TIA has direct flights to Osaka, Shanghai, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Delhi, Dubai, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Lufthansa, Nepal Airlines, Air India, Singapore Airlines, and Thai are the airlines that carry most foreign travelers to Kathmandu. If you buy tickets on another airline, you will likely be connected to one of them for the last part of the flight. Another option, if you have the time and enthusiasm, is to travel overland to Nepal via India or Tibet, China.
The best time to visit Nepal is between October and December when the skies are clear and blue and spectacular. The weather remains dry until around April, with temperatures varying from region to region. January and February can be freezing, especially at night, with average temperatures.
When traveling to Nepal or other destinations, it is essential to purchasing travel insurance. As the weather varies, the availability of infrastructure, cost factors for rescue or evacuation costs, treatment costs are the main part of buying travel insurance before you start your trip. If your travel insurance recognizes it, then we can immediately take the necessary steps for rescue or evacuation to save your life. Especially for trekking, climbing, expedition, or other adventurous activities, you should purchase a complete insurance package that covers rescue and evacuation by helicopter as well as medical expenses.
Yes. The Visa for Nepal can be easily obtained on arrival at the entry points. Facilitate the process by downloading and filling out the application form, have the correct cash and two passport photos ready.
Of course, there is also a tourist police station located near the Nepal Tourism Development Office. There are also complaint desks at the airport and Durbar Square in Basantapur. The tourist police are specially trained in English and have detailed local knowledge to help tourists. For security and travel-related assistance, any of the officers can be contacted at 4-247041, 4-4268969 from 11 am to 5 pm.
A one-time entry visa, valid for 15/30/90 days, costs 30 dollars for 15 days, 50 dollars for 30 days, and 125 dollars for 100 days. At Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, the fee can be paid in any primary currency, but officials require payment in cash using U.S. dollars and small bills at land borders. SAARC countries can get a free 30-day visa on arrival.

Kishor
and his team were fantastic from the beginning. He responded to our email quickly
and patiently to all questions and concerns and made a good itinerary. Together
with Kishor and Kul, they gave us an unforgettable trip that gave us a taste of
how wonderful Nepal is. We hope to have the opportunity to come back again.
by Annett Eichel, Germany
Kishor and Kul were terrific: they
were generous with their time, friendly, and took good care of our Tour. Every
aspect of our trip was well planned, and we knew they were always available if
we needed anything. We spent twelve days in Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini,
Pokhara, and many other nearby places. We
had a knowledgeable and friendly experts guide who ensured our safety and made
the experience much more enjoyable. We are already thinking of returning to
Nepal in the future, and definitely, we will book a trip with Kishor.
by Johanna Blau, Germany
Mr. Kishor, Manager of the company, is
a frank guy who organizes everything perfectly and has very fair and reasonable
prices. We had private transport and driver for (Kathmandu - Pokhara - Chitwan,
and Lumbini). Our hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Chitwan were
excellent, and the service was perfect.
by Manville Lampron, France
I met Mr. Kishor, who prepare my travel
itinerary with sound advice and excellent service. He provided the best tour
guide who was always smiling and knowing about all the historical places in
Kathmandu and Pokhara tourism. In Pokhara, I did a short hike in Dhampus
Sarngkot. My guide, Pramod, was great in the mountains. He was very polite and
respectful to me. He knew all the places and people in the mountains and also showed
me the local culture. The mountain people were friendly, always smiling and
working hard every day. On my hiking when I was in Saragkot, sunset and sunrise
were breathtaking views with the white Himalayas. It was a lovely commemorative
trip made on my journey with all the trimmings. No harassment, no hurry, no
pushing. Thanks to all the team. I would highly recommend anyone for any trip to
Nepal at reliability and a reasonable price.
by Max Rabin, Austria
We chose the twelve days package tour
for our vacation. It included a tour of Kathmandu, the city of temples and
palaces, a day trip to Pokhara, the city on the lake, a rafting adventure on
the Trishuli River on the way to Pokhara, a jungle safari in Chitwan National
Park, and a visit to the revered Buddhist shrine of Lumbini. The whole trip
allowed us to learn the locals at the shrines, a chance to get our adrenaline
pumping in the white water and enjoy the presence of beautiful Mount
Machapuchhre to the north while enjoying our coffee by Lake Phewa. The October month
was also ideal, fantastic. All in all, we had precisely the kind of trip we wanted.
We would recommend this trip with a very well-organizer.
by Audrey Speight, Australia
The all-in-one travel package was just
suitable for our Nepal vacation. We had our city sightseeing, a rafting trip on
the Trishuli River, visited Lumbini (the birthplace of Buddha), and had our
